Brown Paper session
A Brown Paper session is an effective way for a group to achieve a common goal. You can make the Brown Paper session even more effective with Spilter.
What is a Brown Paper session?
During a Brown Paper session a large piece of paper, so-called Brown Paper, is attached to the wall. Workshop participants use this to work together on a solution. You can ask questions about a certain subject and the participants will then write down the answers with a marker on sticky notes. These sticky notes are then attached to the wall. During a later phase, they may be moved around so that they are arranged in a logical order.
Advantages of the Brown Paper session
This effective method has a number of advantages in comparison with traditional meetings. You can record complex group and thought processes, whereby the group then determines the solution. Each person can contribute equally, which means a broader base of support for the results.
Even more effective with Spilter
You can work even more effectively by using Spilter during the Brown Paper session. The meeting room is then equipped with computers and each participant can respond directly to questions. Everyone enters their answers at the same time, which results in a huge time savings during the Brown Paper session. Since you are using computers, not only the talkative participants are giving their opinions; everyone is actively involved. Besides, responses can even be entered anonymously, which lowers the barrier even further thus making it easier for all participants to speak their mind. This is a perfect way to brainstorm successfully. Arranging the answers is just as easy. The answers are digitally arranged and categorised into relevant clusters.
Improved results
Since you do not see who fills in which information, participants are not just filling in socially acceptable answers. In this way, the biggest talker is not the one who gets his way, the best answer is the one chosen. The original order is still saved so that you can review the whole process again after the fact. You will receive a report immediately once the Brown Paper session has ended. Thus, you never have to process all the sticky notes again after a session.
Interaction with Spilter
Spilter is well-suited for use with touch screens, iPads, interactive whiteboards and smartphones. This results in a lot of interaction during the Brown Paper session. The participants could stand around the board and discuss it as a group. The ideas could then be moved around, just like with a Brown Paper.
All the advantages of Spilter during your Brown Paper session:
